Vision
Our shared vision is to establish a self-reliant, resilient and caring community at Jakkalskloof which will live in a manner consistent with the principles of permaculture.
Mission
The following points from the Vision have particular relevance:
Our community is to become locally self-reliant and integrated with our neighbours and local communities. This will be achieved by sharing our resources and skills and working with others so that we may all become more self-reliant.
The land’s functional systems will be restored and the community integrated into the land through entrepreneurial organic farming and sustainable activities to meet our own and other’s needs. We will adopt the principles of permaculture to achieve our aim of increased reliance and self-reliance.
We to strive to be open to sharing our concerns and opinions, as well as respecting and considering each other’s opinions and perspectives. We will take responsibility for our own issues and not expect the community to solve these for us. We will be open to change and innovation, and we will resolve conflicts via an agreed consensus process.
We will strive to continuously reduce our consumption and levels of waste, increase our reliance on products from the farm and generate surpluses of goods and services to trade with or sell to local people.
